Mystical Merry Band Tour of Canada

Yoga Teacher John Friend is proud to announce his first ever Mystical Merry Band Tour of Canada. He will be joined by a supergroup of Canadian and American musicians who will lead kirtan and provide musical accompaniment for his workshops.

Dave Stringer, Anant Jesse, Wade Morissette and the members of Swaha, (Ron Reid and Meenakshi), have been profiled in Time, Elle, Maclean's, Billboard, VH1, In Style, Ascent, and Yoga Journal as leaders of the new North American kirtan movement. Originating from Los Angeles, Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto, they have numerous CDs in release under their own names, but in the community spirit of kirtan, they are joining forces to tour Canada with John Friend in a unique event combining yoga workshop and concert tour. As a group their sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian kirtaan with both the exuberant, groove-oriented sound of American gospel and the soulful introspection of Canadian acoustic music. As dedicated yoga students, all have spent substantial time in India, studying with Swami Muktananda, Swami Chidvilasananda, Swami Shyam, Osho, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois,T.K.V. Desikachar and others.
